Broiler/layer  Everyone always asks  this question: should I start layers or broilers?" I have raised both. So today I will tell you the truth - no sugarcoating. Which one will put steady money for your hand every month in 2026? 1. THE MONEY PART - How Fast You Will See Cash Broilers: Broiler You put money, you collect in 6-8 weeks. Like you saw in my last post, 100 broilers can give you ₦400k+ profit in 6 weeks. It's fast money. Good if you need quick return for school fees, rent, or Christmas chicken sales. Layers: Layer  Layers are slow but steady. You will feed them for 4.5 to 5 months with NO egg. Pure expense. That's about ₦650,000 to feed 100 layers from day-old to point-of-lay. Painful. BUT after 5 months, they start laying for 12-14 months straight. 100 layers will give you 80-90 eggs per day. That's 2.5 to 3 crates daily. 1 crate now in Benin is ₦5,500 - ₦6,000. So 3 crates x ₦5,800 = ₦17,400 per day. That's ₦522,000 per month gross. Minus feed ₦200k, you...

By day 3, 20 more gone? My brother, I feel your pain. Many farmers in Benin face this every batch. The good news? 90% of chick mortality is not spiritual - it's MANAGEMENT. I lost 30 chicks in my first batch too before I learned these 10 mistakes. Let's fix it today. 1. Cold / No Proper Brooding Temperature Problem: Chicks huddle together, chirping loudly, then die. Benin night is cold. Solution: Keep brooder at 32-35°C for first week. Use charcoal stove or 100W bulb, not open fire. Put thermometer inside. 2. Dirty Brooder / Infection from Old Litter Problem: You use old sawdust or you didn't disinfect after last batch. Solution: Wash floor with Izal + Sunlight. Sun-dry for 2 days. Use fresh dry wood shavings. Change when wet. 3. Dehydration - They Didn't Drink Water...
