Part 2 Full breakdown on how I spent my first 1 million on my poultry farm

 Good day my people,

It’s Matthew again.

Yesterday I told you I set aside ₦5 Million to start. Today I want to show you exactly where the first ₦1 Million went. No hiding. This is real.

### **My ₦1,000,000 Startup Breakdown**

| **Item** | **Cost** | **Notes** |

| --- | --- | --- |

| **Land Prep + Pen Construction** | ₦350,000 | Bamboo, wood, roofing sheets, and labor for 600 birds. I used family land so no rent. |

| **Day-Old Chicks** | ₦220,000 | 400 broilers @ ₦300 each + 200 layers @ ₦500 each from a trusted supplier in Benin City |

| **Feed - Starter** | ₦180,000 | 60 bags to last first 4 weeks. Feed is 70% of the cost, just like they said. |

| **Drugs, Vaccines + Equipment** | ₦90,000 | Drinkers, feeders, heat source, and initial vaccines |

| **Misc + Contingency** | ₦160,000 | Transportation, labor, and "things I didn't plan for" |

| **TOTAL SPENT** | **₦1,000,000** |  |

### **3 Biggest Lessons From Spending This Money**

1.  **Feed will shock you**: I thought ₦100k would do. It took ₦180k and that’s just for 1 month.

2.  **Don’t cut corners on housing**: A weak pen means sickness. I spent extra on good roofing.

3.  **Have cash for "unexpected"**: Something always comes up. That ₦160k saved me.

### **What’s Next?**

I still have ₦4 Million left. Next expenses will be grower feed, electricity, and more drugs.

My target is to sell broilers in 8 weeks.

I’m nervous but hopeful.

**Question for you:** If you were starting with ₦1 Million, what would YOU spend it on first?

Drop your thoughts in the comments. Let’s learn from each other.

Thank you for following the journey.

See you in Part 3:  - Brooding the chicks and my first mistake"

God bless you,

How I Reduced Mortality to 2% in Broilers

*Body:* I used to lose 50-80 birds every batch. Heartbreaking.  Last 3 batches? I lost only 10 out of 500. That's 2% mortality. Here's exactly what changed: *1. Biosecurity - Day 1* I disinfect the pen 3 days before chicks arrive. Foot dip with Izal at entrance. No visitors. *Result*: No disease coming in. *2. Water Management* Clean water 2x daily. Add Vitamin + Glucose in first 5 days. *Result*: Strong immunity, no dehydration. *3. Heat Control* Thermometer is a must. 33°C week 1. I check 3x daily. *Result*: No piling, no suffocation, no cold stress. *4. Litter Management*  I remove wet spots every morning. Change top layer every 5 days. *Result*: No ammonia, no coccidiosis. *5. Early Sickness Detection* I check birds 2x daily. Any dull bird? I separate it immediately + give antibiotic. *Result*: Sick birds don't infect others. *Final Note:* 2% mortality is possible. It's not luck. It's system.  Which of these are you doing already?
