As a beginner how can i use 500k to start a broiler chicken business?

DeleteThank you for this question! 500k is a good amount to start small as a beginner in Bénin here.
With 500k in 2026, you can comfortably start with *50 broilers* to learn the business without too much risk.
Here is a simple breakdown I recommend for beginners:
1. Chicks (50 birds) - ∼75k
2. Feed (6-8 bags for 8 weeks) - 200k-250k (this is the biggest cost)
3. Drugs/Vaccines/Sawdust - 40k
4. Small drinkers, feeders, charcoal for heat - ∼50k*
5. Keep ∼100k as emergency/contingency*
Start small, learn mortality, feeding, and how to find buyers first. Don't use all 500k at once.
I will explain this full breakdown with current prices in Bénin farming in my next post on Thursday so you don’t miss anything.
